Another blatant ripoff of the Pokémon video games has appeared on the Google Play store. It’s called “Pocketown” and is falsely posing as a Pokémon remake with a slew of assets that look like they were taken straight out of Pokémon in an attempt to attract customers. This ripoff’s product description from developer APKPure is as follows:

In one of the screenshots you can clearly see Sophocles. Even the name is the same.

It’s not a rip off it’s third party…… Who needs permission to be free….. Plus it’s from a different country translated into English…. Copy write laws might be different…. It’s like saying u cant make parodies because it would be a copy cat

Even if it was… It would be legal… Go to Google there’s many pictures/drawings of the same character… If it was a problem Google would take it down due to copy write laws. If Google took down photos/sites it wouldn’t be Google anymore.

Lol well i downloaded it for kicks and giggles. Let me tell you that its not a ripoff at all. Its some warrior game that looks cool if it was in english, since I cant read chinese.

The funny part about this is I sent them an email asking about an english version of that game and they sent me an apk for the actual pokemon rip off. So it does exist but the pocketown adventure game on play store downloads that weird chinese fighter type game.

I have to agree with you on that one. Not only is it a lot of fun, but the graphics and music in the game are simply gorgeous! While a lot of things are the same in this game as the original ones, when it comes to different quests the designers added a lot more things you can do to keep you coming back. Plus, I think this is still the closest thing we will ever get to a “real” Pokemon RPG. Being able to work with other players/guild members in real time and complete different instances has proven to be a lot of fun. I love the game, ripoff or not : )
