Johto Festival 2018 now in full swing globally in Pokémon GO

The Mythical Pokémon Celebi has officially become available globally via Special Research in Pokémon GO as of today, August 20. You can gain XP by completing Special Research on the iconic Time Travel Pokémon at any time as long as you have done the third group of tasks related to the Special Research on Mew. For those who have already completed the exclusive Pokémon GO Fest Special Research and have obtained Celebi, completing this new Special Research will earn you a new bounty of Candy to power up your Celebi. As part of the ongoing Johto Festival 2018 event, more Pokémon originally discovered in the Johto region now have increased appearances throughout the game.

Plus, Field Research relating to Pokémon discovered in the Johto region has become available throughout this special time. A new Celebi T-shirt is now available for free in the Style Shop. Plus, Pokémon HeartGold and Pokémon SoulSilver Trainer avatar items are also available in the Style Shop, featuring outfits that unlock according to your Johto medal progress. In addition, three new boxes are now available for purchase via the in-game shop:

  • Special Box – two Egg Incubators, two Lucky Eggs, two Premium Raid Passes and 20 Ultra Balls for 480 PokéCoins
  • Great Box – six Incense, four Super Incubators, four Premium Raid Passes and five Star Pieces for 780 PokéCoins
  • Ultra Box – 12 Incense, 12 Super Incubators, eight Lucky Eggs and 12 Premium Raid Passes for 1480 PokéCoins

Elsewhere, Alolan Geodude and Alolan Diglett can now be found and caught in the wild again. In addition, Shiny Natu, Shiny Xatu, Shiny Sunkern, Shiny Sunflora, Shiny Pineco and Shiny Forretress can now be found and caught in Pokémon GO. A number of Johto Pokémon are now appearing as new Raid Bosses. Chikorita, Cyndaquil, Totodile, Sunkern, Shiny Sunkern and Yanma are level 1 Raid Bosses; Pineco and Shiny Pineco are level 2 Raid Bosses; and Ursaring is a new level 4 Raid Boss.
