Niantic confirms Shiny Caterpie can now be found and caught in Pokémon GO

All-new Field Research is now available in Pokémon GO. Players who make a Research Breakthrough during November will encounter Shedinja, a Pokémon that’s never been available in Pokémon GO before. Several of Bug-type Pokémon are also being featured in November’s Field Research tasks, including Caterpie. Shiny Caterpie, Shiny Metapod and Shiny Butterfree have also made their Pokémon GO debuts. To make a Research Breakthrough, you’ll need to collect seven stamps by completing Field Research tasks, and you can only earn one stamp each day. You won’t find Shedinja roaming around anywhere in the wild, so don’t miss the chance to add it to your collection.

For some reason, Moltres was initially being featured as the Research Breakthrough reward for some players, but Niantic has since fixed this issue. In addition, the seventh form of Spinda can now be found and caught in Pokémon GO for the first time. This Spinda variant can be encountered by completing the Make 3 Nice Curveball Throws Research task. Nincada and Ninjask have also made their Pokémon GO debuts. In Pokémon GO, Nincada is only capable of evolving into Ninjask. These two Bug types can be encountered after completing the Research task Catch 5 Bug-type Pokémon.
