Famitsu confirms Super Smash Bros. Ultimate already sold more than 1.2 million units in Japan

It’s no surprise that Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has been selling extremely well right out of the gate. Famitsu is reporting that the highly-anticipated fighting title opened at 1,238,358 copies. Digital sales are not included, but units from physical download cards are. The game is already the fastest-selling Super Smash Bros. game and the fastest-selling Nintendo Switch game. Naturally, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate gave a major boost to Nintendo Switch hardware sales last week. Famitsu reports that the system moved 278,313 units. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate had the best debut for the franchise in Japan, beating out the openings for all previous entries.
