The first Pokémon Scarlet and Violet mass outbreak event is now underway until October 1 at 4:59 p.m. PDT, mass outbreaks of Clefairy now appearing in Kitakami and the Paldea region where Clefairy can’t normally be encountered

Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet are now available for Nintendo Switch. Read on below to learn more about a new in-game event:

Catch Lots of Clefairy in a Mass Outbreak Event

Paldea is getting a rare visitation from Clefairy, some of which may have the Upbeat Mark.

The full moon is calling in the first Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet mass outbreak event. Until October 1, 2023, at 4:59 p.m. PDT, mass outbreaks of Clefairy will be appearing not only in Kitakami but also the Paldea region, where Clefairy can’t normally be encountered. Lucky Trainers are in for an additional treat: Clefairy encountered in these special mass outbreaks are more likely to have the Upbeat Mark!

Mass outbreaks are a phenomenon in which many of the same species of Pokémon appear in one location, and when you catch a Pokémon with a mark—such as Clefairy with the Upbeat Mark—you can choose to have a title associated with that mark displayed when you send your Pokémon into battle.

To participate in mass outbreak events, you will need to download the latest Poké Portal News and install the latest update data for your game. While purchasing The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero is not required to participate in this mass outbreak event, there may be future mass outbreak events that occur in locations that cannot be accessed without The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero.

How to View and Assign Marks

  1. Select a Pokémon in your party or your Boxes, then select Check summary.
  2. From the Pokémon Status Summary screen, navigate left or right to the Memories screen.
  3. If the Pokémon you are viewing has a mark but is not currently displaying a title, Assign a Ribbon or Mark will be shown on the right. Press the A Button, and you can assign a mark to the Pokémon and display the associated title.

Enjoy basking in the moonlight as you catch lots of Clefairy, Trainers!

Mass Outbreaks of Clefairy!

Enjoy a Moon-Viewing Party with Lots of Clefairy!
The full moon calls to Clefairy, causing them to gather en masse. Until Sunday, October 1, 2023, at 23:59 UTC, mass outbreaks of Clefairy will be appearing throughout Kitakami and Paldea.

You normally can’t find Clefairy in the Paldea region, but during this event, you may find mass outbreaks of Clefairy there! Clefairy encountered in these special mass outbreaks are also more likely to have the Upbeat Mark. They must be in high spirits from basking in the moonlight!

During these events, certain Pokémon will become more likely to appear in mass outbreaks!

Information about Mass Outbreak Events

• To participate in mass outbreak events, please download the latest Poké Portal News by selecting Poké Portal from the X menu, then Mystery Gift, then Check Poké Portal News. You do not need a paid Nintendo Switch Online membership to receive the latest Poké Portal News.
• You will also need to download and install the latest update data for your game once The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero Part 1: The Teal Mask for Pokémon Scarlet or Pokémon Violet has been released.
• While purchasing The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero is not required to participate in this mass outbreak event, there may be future mass outbreak events that occur in locations that cannot be accessed without The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero.
