Pokemon GO inspiring baby names like Eevee, Onyx and Roselia

It looks like parents are turning to Pokemon GO for baby-name inspirations. The names of several Pokemon have recently spiked in popularity, according to the BabyCenter database, which says the name Eevee is up 1,394 spots from last year and Onyx is up 2,191 spots. In addition, Roselia has jumped a whopping 5,896 spots. “Parents are always looking to pop culture for baby name inspiration and, right now, it doesn’t get hotter than Pokémon Go,” said BabyCenter global editor in chief Linda Murray. “It’s possible that parents’ enthusiasm for the game will reignite their love for the brand and spark a full-fledged naming trend.” A survey also says that 50 percent of moms in the BabyCenter community are playing Pokemon GO.
