The Kanto Legendary Pokémon Mewtwo is offically coming to Pokémon GO

The Legendary Pokémon Mewtwo has already appeared before Pokémon GO Trainers in Japan, but now it’s officially making its worldwide debut! When this powerful Pokémon arrives, players will have the opportunity to battle it and add it to their Pokédexes with the new Exclusive Raid Battle system.

Exclusive Raid Battles are similar to the current Raid Battles, but as the name suggests, they are a bit more special than the ones in which you’re used to competing. In order to get an invitation to participate in an Exclusive Raid Battle, you must first have successfully completed a raid recently at the Gym where the Exclusive Raid Battle will be held. Fortunately, the invitation comes with advance notice of when the Exclusive Raid will be taking place, giving Trainers the opportunity to gather a large group of friends to help battle the exceptionally strong Raid Boss.

Mewtwo will be the first of the Exclusive Raid Bosses, but other powerful Pokémon may also begin to appear in raids in the weeks following the launch of the Exclusive Raid Battles. Be sure to power up your strongest Pokémon if you hope to catch a Mewtwo of your own.

While you await the arrival of Mewtwo, you can use those powerful Pokémon of yours to take on and catch Lugia—and Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres! That’s right, those mighty Legendary Kanto Pokémon are sticking around for one more week. Starting today and lasting until August 31, 2017, Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres will be appearing in Raid Battles for Trainers to challenge. August 31 will also be your last opportunity to catch Lugia, for now. Be sure to coordinate with other Trainers and make your move!
