Official Satoshi Tajiri manga reveals scrapped Pokémon designs and names for Deer, Crocky, Cactus, Jagg, Gyaōn and more

Game Freak employee James Turner recently tweeted out a few excerpts from the new manga about Pokémon creator Satoshi Tajiri‘s life and the creation of Game Freak. One of the panels in this manga contains a look at an internal poll during development, which displays some scrapped Pokémon designs – including Deer, Crocky, Cactus and Jagg. There are also some possibly cut Pokémon mentioned as well, such as Gyaōn. Interestingly, Cactus still has a cry programmed into the game. Most MissingNo. have their cries reset to the default NidoranM cry, but Cactus is the NidroranM cry-type with pitch adjustments. To learn more about this manga, click here.
