Pokémon GO Fest 2018 on July 14 and 15 is the second major event in Professor Willow’s Global Research Challenge, which is now underway in the Asia-Pacific region until 23:59 JST, in Europe, the Middle East, Africa and India until 23:59 UTC, and in the Americas and Greenland until 23:59 PDT on July 15. Trainers without a ticket to the event won’t be able to see any Pokémon or PokéStops in Lincoln Park, but Trapinch, Feebas and other Pokémon featured in the habitats of Pokémon GO Fest are now appearing more frequently all over the world during the weekend. The Cheering Pokémon, Plusle and Minun, are now appearing more frequently worldwide as Trainers complete themed Field Research tasks. Catching Plusle and Minun result in bonus Stardust, and Trainers might even discover their Shiny versions. Alolan Diglett, Alolan Dugtrio, Alolan Geodude, Alolan Graveler and Alolan Golem have also begun appearing globally for the first time in Pokémon GO.
If you don’t have a Pokémon GO Fest 2018 ticket, Niantic suggests that you avoid playing Pokémon GO in Lincoln Park this weekend. In celebration of Pokémon GO Fest 2018, Lugia and Shiny Lugia are returning to Raid Battles until July 15. Lugia is replacing Regice for this weekend only. Plus, special Pokémon and Raid Battles are appearing across the globe. There are three new boxes now available to purchase via the in-game shop as well:
- Special Box – one Egg Incubator, four Premium Raid Passes and 20 Ultra Balls for 480 PokéCoins
- Great Box – three Super Incubators, six Premium Raid Passes, 10 Pinap Berries and six Star Pieces for 780 PokéCoins
- Ultra Box – nine Super Incubators, nine Lucky Eggs, 12 Premium Raid Passes and nine Star Pieces for 1480 PokéCoins
Niantic has reiterated that Trainers without a Pokémon GO Fest ticket will not see any Pokémon in Lincoln Park during this weekend. However, some special Pokémon found in the Pokémon GO Fest grounds will be appearing around downtown Chicago. Special Pokémon include Torkoal, Aggron, Lotad, Torchic, Mudkip, Nuzleaf, Unown, Unown ?, Treecko, Plusle and Minun. Trainers from the Asia-Pacific region have successfully completed 5 million research tasks, guaranteeing that, starting on July 16, Trainers will receive 1 Rare Candy for winning Raid Battles.
Team Mystic and Blanche supporters have managed to successfully complete three million research tasks. The Mythical Pokémon Celebi has officially made its Pokémon GO debut at Pokémon GO Fest 2018. Celebi can be caught after successfully completing a Special Research quest. The Mythical Pokémon will soon be available to Trainers worldwide. Fans can now follow Plusle and Minun’s Pokémon GO Fest 2018 adventures on Instagram. Trainers from Europe, the Middle East, Africa and India have finished over 2.5 million research tasks. Trainers from the Americas and Greenland are now more than halfway toward unlocking the halved hatch distance global bonus. Team Valor and Candela supporters have hit over 6 million completed research tasks. Trainers at Pokémon GO Fest 2018 have completed over 100,000 research tasks. For a limited time, the Legendary Pokémon Articuno and Shiny Articuno have started appearing Raid Battles in Chicago, Illinois. Trainers in Europe, the Middle East, Africa and India have managed to finish 5 million research tasks, which means the 2× hatch Candy bonus will be available to everyone. Trainers from the Americas and Greenland have finished 5 million research tasks, which means the halved hatch distance global bonus will be available to everyone.
