The world’s first Pokémon GO Safari Zone in South America is recently took place along the Guaíba Riverbank in the city of Porto Alegre, Brazil. From Friday, January 25, to Sunday, January 27, Trainers of all ages were able to catch a wide variety of Pokémon, including some rarely seen throughout South America. This was a free ticketed event with limited availability for those who registered earlier. All Trainers were able to encounter many of the same Pokémon throughout all of Brazil during the event. Increased Pokémon Encounters
Attendees were able to catch a wide variety of Pokémon, including some that have never been seen before in Porto Alegre. This was a great chance to fill in some gaps in your Pokédex. Featured Pokémon included the rare Piplup, Relicanth, Bagon, Psyduck, Turtwig and Chimchar. Shiny Psyduck and Shiny Golduck have also made their Pokémon GO debuts at the Safari Zone in Brazil. If you were unable to make it to Porto Alegre, Trainers all around Brazil were still able to encounter many of the Pokémon featured at the Safari Zone in the wild. Additionally, Psyduck appearances were being increased globally over the weekend. Increased spawns of Psyduck, Shiny Psyduck and Shiny Golduck were also appearing for Pokémon GO players in the Asia-Pacific region, Europe and the Americas. Niantic also confirmed that increased spawns of Psyduck, Shiny Psyduck and Shiny Golduck were appearing all over the world.
Special Unown event
A special Unown event took place for Pokémon GO players at the Pokémon GO Safari Zone in Brazil. From January 25 to January 27, 2019, attendees at the event were able to find increased encounters of at least eight different variations of Unown shaped as the letters P, O, R, T, A, L, E and G to spell out the Porto Alegre.
Attendees were able to cool off and recharge in one of the three mixed team lounges, where you got to meet your fellow Instinct, Mystic, or Valor teammates.
Fans were able to commemorate the experience by snapping photos with their favorite Pokémon at the many photo opportunities around the park.
Fans were able to walk along the beautiful Guaíba Riverbank and spin PokéStops within the event space to receive special 2 km Eggs.
Niantic said it created some amazing memories with all Pokémon GO Safari Zone attendees over the past few days. The developer was featuring Psyduck found in Brazil on its Instagram story. Niantic was also sharing AR photos of Psyduck and asking fans to caption them.
