#FreeGameFreak hashtag confirmed as a hoax

Following the launch of Pokémon Sword and Shield, the #FreeGameFreak hashtag has been surfacing online, particularly all over Twitter. However, Kotaku’s Jason Schreier has confirmed that this hashtag is a complete hoax.”On last week’s Kotaku Splitscreen I talked about how some Pokemon fans tried (and failed) to convince me that one of them was a Game Freak whistleblower,” Schreier explains. “Looks like they conned some other people – the #FreeGameFreak hashtag is a hoax. Listen to Splitscreen for the whole story!”

Pokémon Sword and Shield are now available for purchase around the world for Nintendo Switch. The latest duo of games allow you to choose from three new partner Pokémon and encounter never-before-seen Pokémon. You can also explore the Wild Area, a vast expanse of land where the player can freely control the camera.
