Spice Things Up with Mallow & Shiinotic in Pokémon Masters EX

The Grass-type sync pair is ready to support your team with stat-boosting moves.

Mallow, one of Akala Island’s Trial Captains, has a new partner Pokémon, and together they’re serving up a heaping helping of team support. Mallow & Shiinotic are a Grass-type support sync pair whose X Sp. Def All and Today’s Special! boost the entire team’s Sp. Atk, Sp. Def, accuracy, and critical-hit rate—not a bad spread! Stun Spore can be used to paralyze opponents, while Giga Drain helps keep Mallow & Shiinotic in battle longer with its HP restoration.

Mallow & Shiinotic are available to scout until August 3, 2023, at 10:59 p.m. PDT.

Recommended Sync Pairs to Partner with Mallow & Shiinotic

  • Mallow & Tsareena

Cook up double the trouble with Mallow & Shiinotic and Mallow & Tsareena. While Mallow & Shiinotic can’t raise Mallow & Tsareena’s Attack, they can instead increase the damage Mallow & Tsareena’s moves do in a rather unique way. Each time Mallow & Shiinotic use Giga Drain, they lower their target’s Attack by one stat rank with “Absorbs” Hit: Attack ↓, thus powering up Mallow & Tsareena’s moves thanks to their own Power Posture passive skill. The two sync pairs also benefit from stat bonuses thanks to their shared AlolaCookGrass, and Trial Giver theme skills. Mallow & Tsareena are available to scout from the general pool of 5★ sync pairs, as well as from the 5★-Guaranteed Ticket Scout and 5★-Guaranteed Alola Ticket Scout.

  • Brendan & Sceptile

Brendan & Sceptile were already a strong Grass-type strike sync pair, but now that they can Mega Evolve, they’re even more formidable. The only downside to their power is that their most devastating move, Leaf Storm, lowers their Sp. Atk by two stat ranks with each use. Brendan & Sceptile’s No Turning Back! can fully raise their Sp. Atk if timed correctly, but they need a solid support sync pair to get them through long battles. Mallow & Shiinotic’s Today’s Special! serves up that necessary support by raising Brendan & Sceptile’s Sp. Atk by four stat ranks. And if you activate Mallow & Shiinotic’s Today’s Special! : MP Refresh 2 sync grid tile, you might even be able to use that move two or three more times to continually recover the Sp. Atk Brendan & Sceptile lose. Brendan & Sceptile are available to scout from the general pool of 5★ sync pairs, as well as from the 5★-Guaranteed Ticket Scout and 5★-Guaranteed Hoenn Ticket Scout.
