Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet are now available for Nintendo Switch. Read on below to learn more about one of the latest in-game events:

Face a Mighty Mewtwo!

Catch a Mewtwo with the Mightiest Mark!
Mewtwo with the Mightiest Mark is appearing in black crystal Tera Raid Battles! You can try catching Mewtwo from Friday, September 1, 2023, at 00:00 UTC to Sunday, September 17, 2023, at 23:59 UTC.
Mewtwo cannot normally be encountered in Paldea, and the Mewtwo appearing during this event has Psychic as its Tera Type. Be prepared—this Pokémon is a formidable foe, and it’s got the Mightiest Mark to prove it! Work together with your friends to topple this powerful Tera Pokémon!

This special Mewtwo can be caught only once per save data. As long as the event is running, you can still participate in Tera Raid Battles against this Mewtwo to obtain other rewards if you’ve already caught it.

Mewtwo may be featured in future events or become obtainable through other methods.

What Will Happen When Mew Faces Mewtwo?

Something special might happen if you send Mew into a Tera Raid Battle against Mewtwo, so train up your very own Mew and challenge this Mewtwo with the Mightiest Mark!

What Is a Tera Raid Battle?

In a Tera Raid Battle, you’ll work together with three other Trainers to defeat a powerful Tera Pokémon before time runs out. The kinds of Pokémon encountered during Tera Raid Battle events will vary. Pokémon encountered in Tera Raid Battles may have a rare Tera Type.

Information about Tera Raid Battle Events

• To participate in Tera Raid Battle events, please download the latest Poké Portal News by selecting Poké Portal from the X menu, then Mystery Gift, then Check Poké Portal News. You do not need a paid Nintendo Switch Online membership to receive the latest Poké Portal News.
• After completing certain postgame events, you’ll be able to find black Tera Raid crystals. However, players who haven’t completed these events may still participate in these Tera Raid Battles by joining other Trainers in multiplayer.
• A paid Nintendo Switch Online membership (sold separately) is required to participate in Tera Raid Battles with other Trainers online. Terms apply. Learn more at https://www.nintendo.com/switch-online.

Challenge Mewtwo in Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet Tera Raid Battles

Psychic–Tera Type Mewtwo with the Mightiest Mark is now appearing at black Tera Raid crystals.

Mewtwo with the Mightiest Mark has arrived in Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet black crystal Tera Raid battles! Get psyched up and challenge this powerful Legendary Pokémon from Thursday, August 31, 2023, at 5:00 p.m. PDT to Sunday, September 17, 2023, at 4:59 p.m. PDT. Mewtwo cannot normally be encountered in Paldea, and the Mewtwo appearing during this event has Psychic as its Tera Type, which means that Bug-, Ghost-, and Dark-type moves will deal supereffective damage against it—just keep in mind that Mewtwo can potentially learn all sorts of moves, making it a formidable foe!

And don’t forget: you can still add the Mythical Pokémon Mew to your team to help topple Mewtwo during this event. Something special may happen when you send Mew into a Tera Raid Battle against Mewtwo, so don’t wait! For more details, visit the Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet website.

In order to encounter this Pokémon in Tera Raid Battles, you’ll need to have downloaded the latest Poké Portal News. You can do this by selecting Poké Portal from the X menu, then Mystery Gift, then Check Poké Portal News. After that, whenever you see a sparkling pillar of light shining from a Tera Raid crystal, you can walk up to the crystal and interact with it to start a Tera Raid Battle with a Tera Pokémon.

To challenge Mewtwo, Trainers will need to either complete the postgame events that follow the main story or join a 7-star Tera Raid Battle hosted by a Trainer who has completed those events. This special Mewtwo can be caught only once per save data. You can still participate in Tera Raid Battles against this Mewtwo if you’ve already caught it to obtain other rewards—including significant amounts of Exp. Candy for leveling up your Pokémon, treasures that can be sold at Pokémon Centers, items for improving your Pokémon’s stats, and Psychic Tera Shards for changing your Pokémon’s Tera Type.
