Chest Form Gimmighoul will appear in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet Tera Raid Battles and Riolu, Comfey and Wattrel will be available in Mass Outbreaks from August 8 at 5 p.m. PDT to August 22 at 4:59 p.m. PDT

Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet are now available for Nintendo Switch. Read on below to learn more about some of the latest in-game events:

Chest Form Gimmighoul Is Coming to Tera Raid Battles

You’re sure to treasure these Pokémon—especially if you encounter a Shiny one.

Part three of a season-long, four-part event series in the Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet games coincides with the 2024 Pokémon World Championships in Honolulu, Hawai‘i, and you can get hyped for the big event by taking part in some special Tera Raid Battles. From Thursday, August 8, 2024, at 5:00 p.m. PDT to Thursday, August 22, 2024, at 4:59 p.m. PDT, Chest Form Gimmighoul will be appearing in 1- to 5-star Tera Raid Battles.

The Coin Chest Pokémon is prominently featured on the new artwork created to celebrate the 2024 Pokémon World Championships, and the Chest Form Gimmighoul you’ll face during this event will have various Tera Types. If you challenge one in a 5-star Tera Raid Battle, you might even encounter a Shiny Chest Form Gimmighoul, which doesn’t normally appear during regular gameplay.

Whenever you see a sparkling pillar of light shining from a Tera Raid crystal, you can walk up to the crystal and interact with it to start a Tera Raid Battle with a Tera Pokémon. To find the Tera Pokémon featured in this event, you’ll also need to have downloaded the latest Poké Portal News. To do so, follow these steps:

  1. Select Poké Portal in the X menu.
  2. Select Mystery Gift.
  3. Select Check Poké Portal News.

Catch Riolu, Comfey, and Wattrel in Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet Mass Outbreaks

Celebrate the 2024 Pokémon World Championships by catching lots of Pokémon, and you might even find a Shiny one.

The arrival of the 2024 Pokémon World Championships in Honolulu, Hawai‘i is also bringing a mass outbreak event in Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet. As part three of a season-long, four-part event series, Riolu, Comfey, and Wattrel will be appearing in special mass outbreaks from Thursday, August 8, 2024, at 5:00 p.m. PDT to Thursday, August 22, 2024, at 4:59 p.m. PDT.

These three Pokémon are featured on the new artwork created to celebrate the 2024 Pokémon World Championships, and the ones encountered in this event are more likely to have the Pumped-Up Mark. Not only that, but Shiny Pokémon are more likely to appear in these special mass outbreaks, so don’t miss your chance to find one. During the event, look for these artwork stars in the following locations:

  • Paldea – Wattrel
  • Kitakami – Riolu
  • Blueberry Academy – Comfey

Mass outbreaks are a phenomenon in which many of the same species of Pokémon appear in one location. To participate in mass outbreak events, you will need to download the latest Poké Portal News and install the latest update data for your game.

A Seasonal Event Celebrating the 2024 Pokémon World Championships!
Get ready to celebrate Pokémon featured in the 2024 Pokémon World Championships key art with special Tera Raid Battles and mass outbreaks! From Friday, August 9, 2024, at 00:00 UTC to Thursday, August 22, 2024, at 23:59 UTC, Chest Form Gimmighoul will be appearing in 1- to 5-star Tera Raid Battles while Riolu, Comfey, and Wattrel will be appearing in mass outbreaks across various locations.

Tera Raid Battle Event

During this event, Chest Form Gimmighoul will be appearing in 1- to 5-star Tera Raid Battles. These Chest Form Gimmighoul will have various Tera Types. If you challenge one in a 5-star Tera Raid Battle, you’ll have a small chance to encounter a Shiny Chest Form Gimmighoul, which doesn’t normally appear during regular gameplay!

Mass Outbreak Event

During this event, mass outbreaks of Wattrel will be appearing throughout the Paldea region, mass outbreaks of Riolu will be appearing throughout the land of Kitakami, and mass outbreaks of Comfey will be appearing throughout the Terarium at Blueberry Academy.

Shiny Pokémon are more likely to appear in these special mass outbreaks. Pokémon appearing in these special mass outbreaks are also more likely to have the Pumped-Up Mark, so don’t miss your chance to find one!

What Is a Tera Raid Battle?

In a Tera Raid Battle, you’ll work together with three other Trainers to defeat a powerful Tera Pokémon before time runs out. The kinds of Pokémon encountered during Tera Raid Battle events will vary. Pokémon encountered in Tera Raid Battles may have a rare Tera Type.

Check the Poké Portal for more information about what Pokémon are appearing in Tera Raid Battles.

Information about Tera Raid Battle Events

• To participate in Tera Raid Battle events, please download the latest Poké Portal News by selecting Poké Portal from the X menu, then Mystery Gift, then Check Poké Portal News. You do not need a paid Nintendo Switch Online membership to receive the latest Poké Portal News.
• You’ll be able to find 5-star Tera Raid Battles after completing Pokémon Scarlet or Pokémon Violet’s main story. If you haven’t completed the main story, you may still participate in these Tera Raid Battles by joining other Trainers in multiplayer.
• A paid Nintendo Switch Online membership (sold separately) is required to participate in Tera Raid Battles with other Trainers online. Terms apply. Learn more at https://www.nintendo.com/switch-online.
• Tera Raid Battle events will occur only in the Paldea region.

What Is a Mass Outbreak?

Mass outbreaks are a phenomenon in which many of the same species of Pokémon appear in one location. During limited-time mass outbreak events, certain Pokémon will become more likely to appear.

Information about Mass Outbreak Events

• In order to participate in limited-time mass outbreak events, you need to have downloaded the latest update data and the latest Poké Portal News. You do not need a paid Nintendo Switch Online membership to receive the latest Poké Portal News.
• You can download the latest Poké Portal News by selecting Poké Portal from the X menu, then Mystery Gift, then Check Poké Portal News.
