Pokemon GO has officially become the fastest game ever to reach the number-one spot on the mobile revenue charts, outpacing the previous record holder – Supercell’s Clash Royale, which reached the top spot after two days on iOS and seven days on Android. Meanwhile, Pokemon GO reached that position in under a day on iOS and just four days on Android, according to app-market tracking firm App Annie (via GamesBeat).
“Even though Pokémon Go is only officially open in three countries, the game is generating well over $1 million of net revenue for Niantic Labs,” said App Annie communications boss Fabien Pierre-Nicolas. “I can easily envision a run-rate of over $1 billion per year with less server issues, a worldwide presence, and more social and player-vs.-player features.” Pokemon GO is available now as a free download on iOS and Android devices. Its very first patch went live earlier today.
