Each trial in Pokemon Sun and Moon has a captain whose role is to provide guidance to trail-goers. All captains are Trainers who undertook trials in their own island several years ago. Notable captains include the Water-type Pokemon expert Lana, the Grass type expert Mallow, the Electric type specialist Sophocles and the Fire type expert Kiawe.
