Z-Moves in Pokemon Sun and Moon aren’t just for attacking

Pokemon Sun and Moon introduce a new element called Z-Moves, which are described as powerful moves that can only be used once during battle and are the result of both the Trainer and Pokemon releasing their full power together when their wishes resonate with each other. “With the Z-Moves, each of them are an extension of the Pokémon. There will be a lot of ways to use these in ways that weren’t possible in previous generations,” Game Freak director Shigeru Ohmori told US Gamer. “I keep putting the focus on the Pokémon, but I hope players will get creative and use these Z-Moves to show Pokémon in a way they haven’t been used before. I think you’re going to see a really different battle environment from previous games.” Ohmori also confirmed that not all Z-Moves will just be super-damaging moves. “There are more supportive Z-Moves that will increase the statistics of the Pokémon,” he said. “And I think it will open more strategic possibilities.”
