Pokemon TCG website gets an amazing ’90s-inspired overhaul

The official website for the Pokemon Trading Card Game (TCG) has been overhauled to pay homage to the 1990s, as part of the Pokemon franchise’s ongoing 20-year celebration. “The Pokémon brand launched in the ’90s with the introduction of the first video games and quickly became a global sensation,” said J.C. Smith, director of consumer marketing at The Pokémon Company International. “As we celebrate our 20th year and introduce the Pokémon TCG: XY—Evolutions expansion, this promotional website was an extremely fun project to develop for our fans. They’ll love learning about the Trading Card Game while exploring web design from the decade in which the cards were introduced.”

The site launched to coincide with the release of Pokemon TCG: XY—Evolutions. The new expansion consists of over 100 cards, 12 new Pokemon-EX and four new Pokemon BREAK. In addition, booster packs and two theme decks – Pikachu Power and Mewtwo Mayhem – are now available at select U.S. and Canadian Toys “R” Us stores, hobby shops and participating GameStop locations. They will be at other retailers nationwide by November 2. The complete XY—Evolutions expansion is also available to play in Pokemon TCG Online.
