A populous district in Japan known as Miyagi Prefecture held a Pokemon GO event for 11 days from November 11-21. It featured a Lapras appearance and garnered approximately 100,000 tourists, generating approximately ¥2 billion in revenue – which is equivalent to nearly $17 million; that’s a lot of dough. Developer Niantic recently revealed that more than 88 billion Pokemon have been caught in Pokemon GO, and players have collectively walked 8.7 billion kilometers as of December 7.
