Friendly Competitions are exciting new ways to match up with other Trainers in battles you can customize to create your own experience. You can participate in a Friendly Competition online or as a live event with players nearby via infrared communication. The new feature lets you easily host a competition or participate in an event that someone else has set up.
To battle in a local live Friendly Competition, all you need is your Pokémon Sun or Pokémon Moon game and a system to play it on. If you want to go online to host a Friendly Competition of any sort, you’ll need to have a Pokémon Trainer Club account so you can log in at the Pokémon Global Link.
