Pokémon Sun and Moon help The Pokémon Company become the second most successful publisher in Japan

Thanks to the continuous sales of Pokémon Sun and Moon, The Pokémon Company was the second most successful publisher in Japan for the fiscal year ending March 2017. The company managed to jump straight from #22 to #2 thanks to latest duo of Pokémon games, which have sold over 3.88 million units in Japan alone. Its market share also jumped to 12.6 percent. On the other hand, Nintendo’s market share dropped from 26.4 percent to 17.4 percent. It may be worth noting that, unlike in North America and Europe, Pokémon games in Japan are published by The Pokémon Company – not directly by Nintendo.
