Pokémon GO player receives three-and-a-half year prison sentence for making video inside Russian church

Ruslan Sokolovsky, the Russian man arrested for making a video about Pokémon GO while inside a church, will be spending three and a half years in prison due to his violation of the Russia’s laws against “inciting religious hatred.” He was also found guilty of “illegal trafficking of special technical equipment” after a pen with a built-in video camera had been discovered during the search of his home. In 2016, Sokolovsky made a video inside the Church of All Saints in Yekaterinburg, in which he made some jokes about not being able to catch Jesus. Shortly after uploading the video to YouTube, Sokolovsky was arrested and has been in detention ever since.
