Nintendo UK will host four unique tournaments across four days for Nintendo Switch titles Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Splatoon 2, Pokkén Tournament DX and ARMS during EGX 2017, which takes place 21st-24th September at The NEC, Birmingham.
Alongside these competitive events attendees at the show will be able to try a selection of Nintendo Switch and Nintendo 3DS titles including Super Mario Odyssey, Mario + Rabbids® Kingdom Battle, Metroid: Samus Returns, Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser’s Minions and Monster Hunter Stories™.
EGX will also offer the first UK hands-on opportunity to play a number of Nintendo Switch titles, including Fire Emblem Warriors. These games will be complemented by a selection of fun, casual multiplayer activities on the Nintendo stage for titles including 1-2-Switch, Flip Wars, Puyo Puyo™ Tetris®, Sonic Mania and many more.
Nintendo UK will also host a special Nindies area at the show. Please stay tuned for more updates regarding the exciting titles that will be playable! Thursday 21st September – The Mario Kart 8 Deluxe EGX Championship
Think you can drift with the best? Competitors will take place in 8-player, 150cc Grand Prix’s, with the top racers advancing in a single elimination bracket that will run throughout the day until we crown the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe EGX 2017 Champion! Everyone is eligible to enter, but please bring your own Nintendo Switch to guarantee access to your favourite kart setup. Spaces limited.
Friday 22nd September – The ARMS EGX 2017 Grand Prix
It’s time to take up ARMS! Competitors will clash in 1vs1 fights, and are able to use any character and ARMS combination they wish. Everyone is eligible to enter, but please bring your own Nintendo Switch to guarantee access to your favourite ARMS. Motion control and button control schemes are both supported. Spaces limited.
Saturday 23rd September – The Splatoon 2 UK Championship Grand Final
Whether you’re a full squad or a squid for hire, EGX will offer a last chance qualifier for the Splatoon 2 UK Championship! This will be a single elimination tournament with a different game mode in play for each round, so get practicing! Everyone is eligible to enter, but please bring your own Nintendo Switch or a compatible amiibo with your preset loadout registered to it to guarantee access to your favourite weapons and gear. Spaces extremely limited. The final stages of competition will be livestreamed via the Nintendo UK Twitch channel.
Sunday 24th September – The Pokkén Tournament DX EGX 2017 Invitational
With five new Battle Pokémon, Pokkén Tournament DX promises fresh competition from the word ‘fight’! Competitors will face off in 1vs1 battles on random stages. Players will battle at EGX to join a handful of invited competitors in the final stages of the competition. Everyone is eligible to enter. Spaces limited. The final stages of competition will be livestreamed via the Nintendo UK Twitch channel
When the Nintendo Switch Tournament Area is not hosting organised competitive activities as stated above, attendees are free to bring their own Nintendo Switch and use the area to enjoy whatever games they fancy!
