Version exclusive Pokémon
Pokémon Gold: Growlithe, Arcanine, Mankey, Primeape, Teddiursa, Ursaring, Gligar, Spinarak, Ariados and Mantine
Pokémon Silver: Vulpix, Ninetales, Meowth, Persian, Phanpy, Donphan, Skarmory, Ledyba, Ledian and Delibird
Pokémon found in trees with the move Headbutt
Pokémon Gold: Caterpie, Metapod (Rare), Beedril, Exeggcute and Pineco (Rare)
Pokémon Silver: Weedle, Kakuna (Rare), Butterfree, Exeggcute and Pineco (Rare)
Ho-Oh and Lugia
In Pokémon Gold, Ho-Oh is obtainable before the Elite Four – and in Pokémon Silver, Lugia is available before the Elite Four.
Sandshrew and Ekans
In Pokémon Gold, Ekans can only be found at the Goldenrod City Game Corner for 700 coins. Sandshrew is found in Union Cave.
In Pokémon Silver, Ekans can be found on Routes 32 and 33. Sandshrew needs to be won at the Goldenrod City Game Corner for 700 coins.
