The Pokémon Company has revealed some details in regard to its financial gains within the fiscal year ending 2017. Official Pokémon Center locations throughout Japan managed to generate nearly $1 million and The Pokémon Company made about $80.8 million in total during the same period. This massive figure happens to be the company’s second greatest net profit in its history and adds up to equate to the net profits for its first 18 fiscal years of being in business.
While this year’s fiscal year profits were impressive, it’s a substantial drop from the previous year, which saw a record $145.6 million in profits thanks to a cut from Pokémon GO and the release of Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon. According to Japanese game industry consultant Dr. Serkan Toto, that $80.8 million is the second-highest annual net profit for The Pokémon Company. See how the last two years compare to the rest of the company’s financial history below.
