One new way to interact with your friends in Pokémon GO is by giving Gifts. When you spin a Photo Disc at a PokéStop or Gym, you have a chance of collecting a special Gift. Although you can’t open these Gifts yourself, you can send them to someone on your Friend List. The Gifts contain a variety of helpful items and come with a postcard showing where the Gift was collected. Gifts can also contain a special 7 km Egg that, when hatched, reveals an Alola form of a Pokémon originally discovered in the Kanto region. In addition, Alolan Rattata and Alolan Raticate can now be found and caught in Pokémon GO for the first time. Alolan Rattata are now capable of hatching from 7 km Eggs received through the new Gifts system.
Alolan Rattata now hatching from 7 km Eggs from Pokémon GO Gifts
This is a BIG disappointment and let down. Why adding a useless rat that anyone already can catch at every corner of the streets? Please Niantic remove Alolan Ratata from 7km eggs like you did with (normal) Ratata in the 2km egg. You should at least add Alolan Geodude instead…

The friend stuff is broken. I play in person and trade gifts daily with someone and can’t get past good friends.
And the rat wasn’t listed in the eggs and now it is all I seem to get.
I also saw that they couldn’t handle the crowds at Safari…
Maybe they need to take smaller steps and get feedback from users and work out glitches instead of making/taking a big dump on people that have been playing.

7k for a Rattata is ridiculous

Wow, what an idiotic decision… getting a useless, common as dirt rat you can pick up around every corner if you go for a 10 min walk in a 7 km egg is simply beyond stupid. How very Niantic, exploiting their playerbase in a cheap attempt to sell more incubators.
