Last year, Pikachu and Hello Kitty were appointed by Japanese foreign minister Tarō Kōno. The two prominent entertainment icons are officially serving as ambassadors to promote the city of Osaka, Japan, for the Osaka Kansai Japan Expo 2025. The host of the Expo 2025 is scheduled to be announced in November 2018. The Pokémon Company recently shared official artwork for the Pikachu mascot. In addition, an official promo was released as an attempt to convince everyone that Japan would be a great choice. Promoters have also used thousands of Lego blocks to create a massive Pokémon-themed mural and statues for Pikachu and Eevee:
