Kenyu Horiuchi will now voice Samson Oak in the Pokémon anime following the death of Unshō Ishizuka in Japan

It was recently revealed that Unshō Ishizuka, the Japanese voice actor behind Professor Oak, Samson Oak, the narrator for the original Pokémon anime and several other roles, passed away last month at the age of 68 due to esophagus cancer. TV Tokyo and The Pokémon Company have announced that Kenyu Horiuchi will fill in the role as Samson Oak starting with the episode set to air on October 21, 2018, in Japan. Replacements for other characters have yet to be confirmed, but stay tuned for any updates.
