In a recent interview with Japanese publication Sankei Shimbun, Pokémon creator Satoshi Tajiri touched on a number of different topics, including the franchise’s 22 plus years of popularity, Pokémon GO’s incredible influence in the mobile space and how Pokémon appeals to people of all ages. One of the goals Tajiri took on was to break the stereotype that suggested Pokémon was only for young children. He accomplished this by implementing elements that cater to everyone in the games, starting with the original Pokémon Red and Green. Tajiri also mentions how Pokémon GO is a unique game in how it promotes a healthy lifestyle by encouraging players of all ages, including the elderly, to step outside and walk.
