Official announcement: Celebrate the Year of the Pig in Pokémon GO with Spoink and 11 other Pokémon

A new Lunar New Year event is now underway in Pokémon GO, featuring increased spawns of rare Pokémon until February 13 at 1 p.m. PT. Featured Pokémon include Spoink, Mankey, Mareep, Ekans, Ponyta, Poochyena, Miltank, Rattata, Electabuzz, Dratini and Buneary. The latest in-game event gives players double XP when capturing or evolving Pokémon, as well as a greater chance to encounter Lucky Pokémon when trading with your friends. Shiny Spoink and Shiny Grumpig have also made their Pokémon GO debuts. The official announcement from the development team at Niantic is as follows:

Features

  • Rattata, Ekans, Mankey, Ponyta, Electabuzz, Dratini, Mareep, Miltank, Torchic, Poochyena, Spoink, and Buneary will appear more frequently in the wild!
  • If you’re lucky, you may encounter a Shiny Spoink!

Bonuses

  • 2× Catch XP
  • 2× XP when evolving Pokémon
  • When you trade a Pokémon, there is an increased chance it will become a Lucky Pokémon!
