Pokémon GO‘s latest April Fool’s Day gag is now live in various territories across the globe. Starting at midnight on April 1, 2019, Ash Ketchum and Ash Hat Pikachu photobomb your AR photos in GO Snapshot mode instead of Smeargle. Pikachu can then be captured, but Ash of course cannot be caught. When Ash appears by himself, you still result in an encounter with Ash Hat Pikachu. These photobomb sessions can happen a total of five times for each player. In addition, Ash Hat Pikachu can appear and be caught as a Shiny. This Shiny Pikachu can evolve into a Shiny Raichu that retains Ash’s cap.
Ash can now be spotted by himself via GO Snapshot but still cannot be caught in Pokémon GO
