Pokémon the Movie: Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution will premiere in Japan on July 12, 2019. The upcoming movie is being directed by Kunihiko Yuyama and Motonori Sakakibara, while the screenplay is by Takeshi Shudo. Meanwhile, CoroCoro recently gave fans a first look at both Mew and Ash’s Pikachu Pikachu in the film. The Japanese publication has also revealed a special distribution for Pokémon Let’s Go Pikachu and Let’s Go Eevee. From April 12 to July 11, those who pre-purchase a ticket will receive a special code to unlock Mewtwo with a CP level of 10,000 in the game. This particular Mewtwo is a level 70 Pokémon with the Quiet nature and the moves Shadow Ball, Psychic, Barrier and Calm Mind. Codes will be redeemable until September 30, 2019. The Pokémon Company has unveiled two new pieces of artwork for official merchandise based on the upcoming film, showcasing Mew, Mewtwo, Dragonite, Pikachu, Squirtle, Bulbasaur, Charmander, Psyduck, Meowth and Togepi.
The official soundtrack for Pokémon the Movie: Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution includes an ending theme that consists of a new rendition of the original end theme “Kaze to issho ni” by Sachiko Kobayashi, but this time it will be sung by Sachiko Kobayashi as well as Shoko Nakagawa and arranged by Seiji Kameda. It’ll also be released on CD in Japan on July 10, 2019.
