2019-2020 Pokémon International Championships announced for Latin America, Oceania, Europe and North America

The battles are starting in another exciting season of the Play! Pokémon Championship Series as Trainers work toward an invitation to the 2020 Pokémon World Championships. Several areas in the Play! Pokémon section of the website have been updated to include new information about this year’s Championship Series. Masters Division competitors from North America now need only 500 Championship Points to qualify for the Pokémon TCG World Championships. In all other age divisions and rating zones, the number of Championship Points required to qualify for Worlds, in both the Pokémon TCG and video game competitions, has not changed.

Several events have updated Best Finish Limits this year. Pokémon Regional Championships and Special Events now share a Best Finish Limit of 6, decreased from 8 last season, in both the Pokémon TCG and video game competitions. Pokémon TCG League Challenges and League Cups, as well as Pokémon video game Premier Challenges and Midseason Showdowns, will now have yearly Best Finish Limits like other event types, instead of seasonal Best Finish Limits. The Pokémon Company has also unveiled the following International Championships:

  • Latin America from November 15 to November 17, 2019, at the PROMAGNO Centro de eventos in São Paulo, Brazil
  • Oceania from February 21 to February 23, 2020, in Melbourne, Australia
  • Europe from April 17 to April 19, 2020 in Berlin Germany
  • North America from June 26 to June 28, 2020, in the U.S.
