New Pokémon-GX from the Pokémon TCG: Sun & Moon—Unified Minds Expansion. See these two powerhouses form a TAG TEAM alongside other new cards in the upcoming Sun & Moon—Unified Minds expansion.
Sun & Moon—Unified Minds is the latest expansion for the Pokémon Trading Card Game, and as you might expect, it includes a wide variety of amazing new cards. Of course, TAG TEAM Pokémon-GX continue to stand out, but there are plenty of other Pokémon, Pokémon-GX, and Trainer cards to get excited about. These powerful new cards will boost the strength of your deck and look awesome in your collection! Take a look at some of the new cards you’ll find in Sun & Moon—Unified Minds.
Mewtwo & Mew-GX
Mewtwo and Mew have a long, intertwined history, so it makes perfect sense that they would join forces on a TAG TEAM card. Given the pair’s Legendary (and Mythical) strength, it should come as no surprise that this is a powerful card. Mewtwo & Mew-GX has a staggering 270 HP and no regular attack. Instead, thanks to its Perfection Ability, this team can use the attacks of any Pokémon-GX or Pokémon-EX on your Bench or in your discard pile. This Ability makes for a very versatile card, but you will need the necessary Energy attached to Mewtwo & Mew-GX in order to use each borrowed attack. The team’s Miraculous Duo-GX attack is also impressive. It hits for 200 damage, and with just 1 extra Energy attached, the GX attack will heal all damage from all of your Pokémon. Pretty nice!
Aerodactyl-GX, which evolves from the versatile Unidentified Fossil, is good for disrupting your opponent’s attack strategy. If this Fighting-type Pokémon is your Active Pokémon, you can use its Primal Winds Ability to add an extra Energy to the attack costs of your opponent’s Basic Pokémon. Not only will this Ability annoy your opponent, but it also fuels Aerodactyl-GX’s Wild Dive-GXattack. This attack costs a single Fighting Energy and hits for 50 damage times the amount of Energy attached to your opponent’s Active Pokémon. Just make sure to use it when your opponent is fully powered up, because you only get one chance!
Rowlet & Alolan Exeggutor-GX
With the diminutive Rowlet reaching a mere 1 foot in height and Alolan Exeggutor towering at over 35 feet tall, this TAG TEAM seems about as physically mismatched as can be. Even so, these two Pokémon combine into a force to be reckoned with! If you have other Grass-type Pokémon on your Bench, this TAG TEAM’s Super Growth attack lets you evolve them up to Stage 2 with no Energy cost. If you’re looking to go on the offensive, the pair’s Tropical Hour-GX attack does an impressive 200 damage, and by attaching 3 extra Energy, you can really put your opponent in a tough spot. The GX attack’s “team bonus” forces your opponent to shuffle all the Energy attached to all their Pokémon into their deck. If you’re facing a powered-up opponent, Rowlet & Alolan Exeggutor-GX can send them right back to square one!
The Mythical Pokémon Jirachi shines bright as a Pokémon-GXin Sun & Moon—Unified Minds. The Wish Pokémon may not be a heavy hitter, but its Star Search attack provides an easy and low-cost way to attach Energy to any other Psychic-type Pokémon you may have on your Bench. To help defend itself while it assists its teammates, Jirachi-GX has the Psychic Zone Ability that cancels out Psychic-type Weakness (although be aware that it affects your opponent as well). Its Star Shield-GX attack provides extra protection by preventing all effects of attacks, including damage, done to Jirachi-GX during your opponent’s next turn.
Is your opponent getting a little too close to victory for your comfort? If so, it might be time to bring Naganadel-GXinto play. This Ultra Beast’s Injection-GX attack lets you take a card from your opponent’s discard pile and add it to their Prize cards. Suddenly, they’re one step further from the finish line! In addition to that sneaky attack, Naganadel-GX’s Ultra Conversion Ability allows you to bolster your hand by drawing 3 cards if you’re willing to sacrifice another Ultra Beast from your hand. You can also direct damage at any of your opponent’s Pokémon with the Venom Shot attack. Just be aware that you’ll have to discard 2 Energy from Naganadel-GX when you pull off this versatile attack.
