Official artwork for new Pokémon anime series features Ash, Pikachu, Go and Scorbunny encountering sleeping Snorlax

The upcoming Pokémon anime series is simply called Pocket Monsters, a direct reference to when the anime first began back in 1997. The setting takes place in all Pokémon regions to date, including Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh, Unova, Kalos, Alola and Unova. Ash and Pikachu are returning alongside a new trainer named Go and his partner Scorbunny. Go is described as a 10-year-old boy who’s aim is to catch the Mythical Pokémon Mew, which he remembers meeting when he was younger. The series will officially premiere on November 17, 2019, at 5:30 p.m. JST. Based on the first trailer for the anime, the upcoming series will presumably serve as a reboot that retells the story of Ash and Pikachu:

The first trailer for the new series will premiere alongside a special episode on November 10. This episode will be hosted by Marie Iitoyo (voice of Lucy in POKÉMON Detective Pikachu). This episode will recap Ash’s adventures so far as well as show footage from the new series of the anime. Iitoyo will be voicing Kangaskhan’s child in the first episode of the new series.
