Game Freak’s Junichi Masuda apologizes for canceled Pokémon Sword and Shield launch event

The Pokémon Company and Nintendo are gearing up for the highly anticipated upcoming video games Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield, launching on November 15, 2019, exclusively for Nintendo Switch. However, The Pokémon Company has called off its Japanese launch event that was due to take place in Tokyo next week in Tokyo, Japan. Junichi Masuda and Shigeru Ohmori, the series’ veteran lead producer and its game director, were both planning to make an appearance. In a statement apologizing for the event’s cancellation, The Pokémon Company simply blamed “operational reasons.” Masuda has since apologized to fans for the canceled event:
