The Game Awards 2019 officially took place on December 12, 2019, at 5:30 p.m. PT and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate was nominated in multiple categories, including Game of the Year. More than 10 brand-new games were also revealed and former Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime appeared as a presenter. Although it didn’t win Game of the Year, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate won Best Fighting Game at The Game Awards. Nintendo of America president Doug Bowser was at the show to receive this reward on behalf of everyone at Nintendo.
