The 2020 Pokémon North America International Championships will take place at the Greater Columbus Convention Center from June 26 to June 28 in Columbus, Ohio

The Pokémon International Championships

The Pokémon International Championships draw Pokémon TCG and video game players from all around the globe during the Championship Series season. These amazing events will feature high Championship Point payouts.

  • Current top players can earn awards for travel
  • No qualifications or residency restrictions for tournament entry

Awards for travel to the International Championships will be available to players worldwide based on Championship Point performance in their home rating zone (except South Africa and Russia, where awards for travel will not be distributed). In the 2020 season, awards for travel will be based on performance during specific qualification periods.

All players who have a Trainer Club account and are in good standing with the Play! Pokémon program are welcome to participate.

Awards for Travel

Players can qualify for Travel Awards to the Latin America, Oceania, and Europe International Championships based on their performance leading up to each event during the qualification periods below.

Players who qualify will receive a flat Travel Award amount prior to the event. Players are fully responsible for booking their own hotel and travel. The amount is based on the age of the recipient, their region of residence, and the region of the event. The amounts are as follows:

Pokémon TCG and video game players in each rating zone can qualify for a Travel Award by finishing in the Top 4 in their age division. Players in Russia and South Africa are not eligible for Travel Awards via this process.

Players who finish 5th–16th in the Pokémon TCG, or 5th–8th in the VGC, are eligible to earn a $1,000 Travel Stipend, paid after the event.

Qualification Periods

In the 2020 season, awards for travel to the International Championships will be based on stand-alone qualification periods.

Latin America International Championships: Awards for travel to the Latin America International Championships are based on Championship Points earned from April 29 through June 30, 2019.

Oceania International Championships: Awards for travel to the Oceania International Championships are based on Championship Points earned from July 1 through November 17, 2019.

Europe International Championships: Awards for travel to the Europe International Championships are based on Championship Points earned from November 18, 2019, through February 23, 2020.

North America International Championships: Awards for travel to the North America International Championships are based on Championship Points earned from February 24 through April 19, 2020.

Prizes

Prizes are awarded to the top players in each of three age divisions. Players must have a Pokémon Trainer Club account with a Player ID attached and must have opted in to the Play! Pokémon program in order to earn points and awards.

For the Pokémon TCG and Video Game International Championships, the format of each prize is dependent on the age of the recipient. Here are the Internationals prizes for the 2020 Play! Pokémon Championship Series season.

18 years of age and older:

  • Awards of $5,000 or more: choice of scholarship or cash
  • Awards under $5,000: cash

Under 18 years of age:

  • Awards of $5,000 or more: choice of scholarship or Pokémon Visa® Prepaid Card
  • Awards under $5,000: Pokémon Visa® Prepaid Card

Prizes and prize distribution may be subject to change.

All participants will receive 5 Play! Points and a Pokémon International Championships promo card (while supplies last), just for playing!

Prizes are based on attendance per age division. Unless otherwise specified, all prizes are paid in US dollars and subject to applicable tax withholding. Prize winners should consult a qualified tax professional regarding their tax obligations.
