Shiny Piplup, Shiny Prinplup and Shiny Empoleon now available in Pokémon GO for the first time

The Water-type Pokémon Piplup is the star of January‘s Pokémon GO Community Day, and you’ll definitely want to catch as many of this Pokémon as you can during the event! In the northern hemisphere, this month’s Community Day event is happening on Sunday, January 19, 2020, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. local time. In the southern hemisphere, the event is happening on Sunday, January 19, 2020, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. local time.

Piplup is appearing much more frequently in the wild and in raids during this time, and if you’re lucky, you might even find a Shiny Piplup! This means that Shiny Piplup, Shiny Prinplup and Shiny Empoleon have officially made their Pokémon GO debuts. If you evolve Prinplup (the evolved form of Piplup) into Empoleon during the event or up to two hours afterward, the Empoleon will know Hydro Cannon, an attack it can’t normally learn!

By spinning PokéStops during Community Day hours, you may receive Eggs that will hatch into Piplup. Plus, Lure Modules will last for three hours and Eggs will require one-quarter the usual Hatch Distance when placed in Incubators during the event.
