A brand-new feature known as Reality Blending was recently announced for Pokémon GO. Read on below to learn more:

Reality Blending (Beta)

Niantic is building towards the future of global AR experiences, leveraging the Niantic Real World Platform and its powerful AR mapping technologies to create more ways for players to interact with the world around them.

Reality Blending is a new AR feature that uses advanced mapping technology to understand physical objects in real-time. While interacting with your buddy or taking a GO Snapshot in AR mode with Reality Blending enabled, you’ll notice improvements in how Pokémon appear on screen in relation to your surroundings.

This advanced AR feature is in beta and only available to some users with the following devices:

  • Google Pixel 3 and above (excluding Pixel 3a)

We are continuing to optimize the experience to make this feature available to more mobile device types in the future.
