Compete in the Spikemuth Cup Online Competition
Earn Battle Points by challenging other Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield players from around the world.
Things are going to get rowdy when you take part in Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield‘s Spikemuth Cup. Named after the home of the raucous Team Yell, this Online Competition shares the same restriction that all Gym Challengers must face when battling in Spikemuth—Dynamaxing and Gigantamaxing are not permitted. So put your skills to the test and make some noise during this global event, because it’s sure to be a weekend filled with action-packed battles worth yelling about. Trainers who participate in at least one Spikemuth Cup battle will earn a participation gift of 50 Battle Points.
How to Register
The sign-up period for the Spikemuth Cup Online Competition is from Wednesday, March 3, 2021, at 9:00 p.m. PST until Thursday, March 18, 2021, at 4:59 p.m. PDT.
To register for the competition, follow these steps:
- Launch your Pokémon Sword or Pokémon Shield game.
- Open the X menu.
- Select VS.
- Select Battle Stadium.
- Select Online Competitions.
- Select Search Official Competitions.
The Spikemuth Cup takes place from Thursday, March 18, 2021, at 5:00 p.m. PDT through Sunday, March 21, 2021, at 4:59 p.m. PDT. This Online Competition is comprised of Single Battles. Your Battle Team cannot have more than one of the same Pokémon, nor can you bring more than one of the same item.
Eligible Pokémon
Galar Pokédex No. 001–397, Isle of Armor Pokédex No. 001–210, and Crown Tundra Pokédex No. 001–209 are eligible for battle. Please review the Eligible Pokémon section of the competition rules from within your game for more details. Also remember that Trainers are not allowed to use Dynamax or Gigantamax during this event.
Results and Gifts
Look for ranking results to arrive in April 2021 (date subject to change). Once the Online Competition has ended and results are posted, you can view your rankings by following these steps:
- Launch your Pokémon Sword or Pokémon Shield game.
- Open the X menu.
- Select VS.
- Select Battle Stadium.
- Select Online Competitions.
- Select Search Official Competitions.
To receive your participation gift after the Spikemuth Cup is over, follow these steps:
- Launch your Pokémon Sword or Pokémon Shield game.
- Open the X menu.
- Select Mystery Gift.
- Select Get a Mystery Gift.
- Select Get Battle Stadium Rewards.
