Tornadus Strategy Tips

Strategy Tips

Tornadus cannot be inflicted with any status conditions other than Paralysis.

However, you can weaken Tornadus by leaving it paralyzed. (Some of its actions will change, and some Passive Skills will not activate.)

It can remove Paralysis when its HP falls below a certain amount or when its Passive Skill Self-Cleanse is activated after using a Pokémon move. Try to maintain the Paralysis condition as you attack.

Although you can make Tornadus flinch, its resistance to the condition increases every time it recovers from Flinching, so it’s best to time your moves wisely.

From HP Bar 2, the higher Tornadus’s Speed, the more its Ramming Speed Passive Skill powers up moves.

Its Speed may increase further with the effects of Passive Skills. (The higher the difficulty level, the more Passive Skills it has.)

However, Tornadus’s Chronic Slowdown 2 Passive Skill has a moderate chance of lowering its Speed if it’s attacked while under a status condition, so attack it as much as you can while it is paralyzed to slow it down.

HP Bar 1

  • Use Sophocles & Togedemaru’s Nuzzle or Erika & Vileplume’s Stun Spore to leave your opponent paralyzed!
  • When not paralyzed, Tornadus will only use the powerful Hurricane attack and Rain Dance. It also has access to some strong Passive Skills while the Weather is Rain, so watch out!
  • When not paralyzed, Tornadus will take reduced damage from physical attacks thanks to its Physical Fortitude 8 Passive Skill, so leave it paralyzed or use special attacks!
  • Try to keep the opponent paralyzed at all times and hit it with Electric-type moves!

Recommended Sync Pairs and Tactics: Option 1

  • #1: Sabrina & Alakazam
  • #2: Sophocles & Togedemaru
  • #3: Hau & Raichu

Recommended Sync Pairs and Tactics: Option 2

  • #1: Erika & Vileplume
  • #2: Sygna Suit Elesa & Rotom
  • #3: Player Character & Pikachu

HP Bar 2

  • Use Elesa & Zebstrika’s Spark or Marnie & Morpeko’s Thunder Shock to leave your opponent paralyzed!
  • Watch out for Tornadus’s hard-hitting Fly attack as well, which it will use when not paralyzed!
  • When not paralyzed, Tornadus will take reduced damage from special attacks thanks to its Passive Skill Mental Fortitude 8, so leave it paralyzed or use physical attacks!
  • Try to keep the opponent paralyzed at all times and hit it with Electric-type moves!

Recommended Sync Pairs and Tactics: Option 1

  • #1: Dawn & Torterra*
  • #2: Player Character & Torchic
  • #3: Elesa & Zebstrika

HP Bar 3

  • While using Volkner & Luxray’s Thunder Fang to inflict Paralysis, try to also inflict Flinching!
  • When not paralyzed, Tornadus will use the hard-hitting Hurricane attack more often and will begin using Swagger to leave your allies confused, so be careful!
  • When not paralyzed, Tornadus will take reduced damage from both physical and special attacks thanks to its Healthy Advantage 8 Passive Skill. Critical hits won’t work either due to Robust Physique, so make sure to leave it paralyzed!
  • N & Zekrom’s Piercing Blows Passive Skill ignores Passive Skills that reduce damage and prevent critical hits, so use this to your advantage and have N & Zekrom finish off the opponent in one powerful fell swoop!

Recommended Sync Pairs and Tactics

  • #1: Phoebe & Dusknoir*
  • #2: Volkner & Luxray
  • #3: N & Zekrom

Note: Sync Pairs listed with an * show the Pokémon in its evolved form.
