Pokémon GO Halloween Mischief 2021 Scares Up Some Fun
Battle fiercely in the GO Battle League’s Halloween Cup, enjoy the haunting music of Lavender Town, catch several Pokémon making their Pokémon GO debuts, and more.
Treat yourself to a spooky Halloween experience with a Pokémon GO event that’ll allow you to expand your Pokédex and double your Candy rewards while listening to the haunting notes of Lavender Town. The Pokémon GO Halloween Mischief 2021 event runs from Friday, October 15, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. to Sunday, October 31, 2021, at 8:00 p.m. local time. This event will be divided into two parts, with plenty of featured Pokémon to catch, research to complete, and adventures to be had across both parts.
You can expand your Pokédex with the Pokémon GO debut of Galarian Slowking, Phantump, Trevenant, Pumpkaboo, and Gourgeist. To obtain a Galarian Slowking, set a Galarian Slowpoke as your buddy and catch 30 Psychic-type Pokémon. It’s the perfect opportunity to evolve Galarian Slowpoke into Galarian Slowking, because Part 1 of this seasonal spooktacular is all about Poison and Psychic types. Galarian Slowking will also be available after the Halloween Mischief 2021 event has concluded.
All of the mischief and mayhem will play out with the haunting sound of Lavender Town’s iconic music in the background, so don’t forget to turn the volume up during this event.
Here are some activities you can enjoy throughout the entire event:
- Battle like a fiend in the Halloween Cup! Timed Research based on Halloween Cup battles will bring sweet rewards.
- Delve deep into the psyches of Ghost-type Pokémon with a Special Research story: What Lies beneath the Mask?
- Trick or treat yourself with Candy-focused, event-long bonuses.
- Catch costumed Pokémon, including Halloween Mischief Pikachu, Halloween Mischief Piplup, and Halloween Mischief Drifblim.
- Move one step closer toward catching the elusive Hoopa with the next part of the Season of Mischief’s ongoing Misunderstood Mischief Special Research story.
Part 1: Creepy Companions
October 15, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. to October 22, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. local time
Poison and Psychic types are running amok in Part 1 of the Pokémon GO Halloween Mischief 2021 event, with Shiny Spinarak making its Pokémon GO debut.
Pokémon appearing in the wild will include Halloween Mischief Pikachu, Zubat, Gastly, Drowzee, Spinarak, Misdreavus, Shuppet, Halloween Mischief Piplup, Stunky, Woobat, and Gothita. If you’re very lucky, you might encounter a Yamask in the wild.
Pokémon appearing in one-star raids will include Galarian Slowbro, Murkrow, Scraggy, Yamask, and Espurr. Three-star-raid Pokémon include Alolan Raichu, Sableye, Banette, and Halloween Mischief Drifblim. Altered Forme Giratina will also be making its ghostly presence felt in five-star raids, with a possibility of encountering a Shiny Giratina as well.
Pokémon hatching from Eggs during the event will include Spinarak, Misdreavus, Shuppet, Chingling, and Litwick. If you’re lucky, you might also hatch a Galarian Yamask or Golett.
Part 2: Ghoulish Pals
Friday, October 22, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. to Sunday, October 31, 2021, at 8:00 p.m. local time
Some delightfully ghoulish pals are introducing a fun new mechanic to the game. Phantump, Trevenant, Pumpkaboo, and Gourgeist will debut in Pokémon GO during Part 2 of the Halloween Mischief 2021 event. Kalos experts may recall that Pumpkaboo come in a variety of sizes, which serves as the inspiration for a creepy Collection Challenge that encourages you to collect Pumpkaboo both large and small. Plus, with the introduction of these Pokémon to Pokémon GO comes a brand-new size mechanic, which will allow a Pumpkaboo’s size to be reflected in its in-game appearance.
Mega Absol and Darkrai will be appearing during the Pokémon GO Halloween Mischief 2021 Special Raid Weekend. From Saturday, October 30, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. to Sunday, October 31, 2021, at 8:00 p.m. local time, Mega Absol will make its Pokémon GO debut in Mega Raids while Darkrai spreads its horrific nightmares through five-star raids.
During this second event phase, the following Pokémon will be appearing in the wild: Gastly, Murkrow, Misdreavus, Shuppet, Purrloin, Phantump, and Small Size or Average Size Pumpkaboo. If fortune favors you this Halloween season, you might encounter Haunter, Yamask, Litwick, and Large Size or Super Size Pumpkaboo.
Pokémon hatching from Eggs during this event will include Misdreavus, Shuppet, Galarian Yamask, Litwick, Golett, Phantump, and Small Size Pumpkaboo.

Ghost-type Pokémon are appearing more often than usual, and Professor Willow has tasked you with learning more about them. Notably, Yamask has started appearing in the wild, prompting his interest in learning more about Ghost-type Pokémon related to masks. What can we learn about these Pokémon—and what can we learn about ourselves in the process?
Timed Research will be available with tasks focused on participating in the Halloween Cup in the GO Battle League.

Galarian Slowking, the Hexpert Pokémon, will make its Pokémon GO debut, and Shiny Spinarak will be appearing for the first time in Pokémon GO, too!
Season of Mischief Special Research Story Unlock
The next part of the Season of Mischief Special Research story, Misunderstood Mischief, will unlock.
If you complete this Season’s Special Research story, you’ll gain access to a special event at the end of the Season that might have something to do with Hoopa!

Pokémon GO Halloween Part 2: Ghoulish Pals

The second part of Pokémon GO Halloween Mischief is called Ghoulish Pals! Ghost types will be appearing more often everywhere as we get closer and closer to Halloween. The spectacularly spectral Pumpkaboo and Phantump will make their Pokémon GO debuts, alongside their Evolutions, Gourgeist and Trevenant! We’re also getting word that you’ll be able to encounter Pumpkaboo of varying sizes, just like you can in the Kalos region. Gourgeist evolved from Pumpkaboo will also vary in size! During this time, intrepid Trainers can complete a Collection Challenge that’ll encourage them to seek these Ghost-type Pokémon!

The next part of the Season of Mischief Special Research story, Misunderstood Mischief, will unlock.
If you complete this Season’s Special Research story, you’ll gain access to a special event at the end of the Season that might have something to do with Hoopa!
Professor Willow has a frightening but eye-opening encounter with some Phantump and Trevenant in a forest! This reminds him that Hoopa is also a Ghost-type Pokémon, so perhaps this is the perfect opportunity to do more research on the spooky, spectral Pokémon around us.
