The official Weibo account of Pokémon has shared new skills and the behind of scenes of “Pokémon Party” that includes an interview with Lay Zhang.
The song is part of the official Pokémon Music Collective that has been announced by The Pokémon Company and Universal Music as a new initiative. It consists of iconic Pokémon game music recreated by talented artists, including imase, ENHYPEN and Lay Zhang.
Q1: How do you feel working with Pokémon?
Lay Zhang: I’m extremely happy to be able to collab with Pokémon. It’s probably not the first time we’ve worked together. Actually, we’ve done a collab with Pokémon before when I did the jewellery brand (Layciga) and we made many related products. I’m very happy. I’m honored.
Q2: Which is your favorite Pokémon?
Lay Zhang: The reason I like Snorlax is because I think that firstly, he’s very big, extremely big. Secondly, he loves sleeping. Recently, I’ve been suffering from insomnia frequently. It’s definitely because having Snorlax, that insomniacs can feel very safe.
Q3: What do you think of the core of the story told through the MV?
Lay Zhang: That is, our Pokémon is a big family and then everyone gets together and is happy. And it has already become a symbol of our times. So, it accompanies the memories and recollections of people from generation to generation. To me, the MV brings happiness, yeah.
Q4: Were there any interesting happenings during the filming of this MV?
Lay Zhang: Yes, the happiest thing to me this time is being able to have a close encounter with my Pokémon. In the past, it was always, for example, a lot of performances with people, right? This time is a performance with Pokémon, so the experience feels different and fresh. Good, thank you.
