FanArt Friday: The Beauty of Water-Type Pokémon (And A Few Others)

For this edition of FanArt Friday, we’re lucky to display the art of a lover of the sea, the talented Maddie also known as Cerulean Sea Creations.

The Kanto Starter

“Drawing Pokémon art has changed a lot for me over the last two years. It’s something that I lost after high school but picked back up again after college due to the support of my partner. It really has allowed me to connect with others who are really into Pokémon. It’s something that I don’t have to hide, and I can embrace. Honestly, my favorite thing is talking to others about their art online or in person, especially at conventions,” Maddie shared with the Pokémon Blog Team.

The Pokémon Franchise has had a great and lasting impact on the life of our featured artist. She has been playing since she was “5 or 6.”

Prettiest thing ever

“Pokémon Emerald was my very first game. I slowly lost interest as I entered middle and high school since it was considered “uncool.” However, I can actually thank my partner for reigniting my love for Pokémon by gifting me my first 2DS. That moment shaped our relationship and continues to do so to this day,” she added.

Adorable

For Maddie, making Pokémon Art was overwhelming at the beginning because she didn’t know what she wanted to draw and was still trying to figure out her style. But now, it just comes with ease, and she just wants to draw all the Pokémon in existence.

🥰🥰

She has been attending conventions for a year now, but her artistic business is not her full-time activity. It’s only a fun hobby that makes her happy.

Artist Alley

Maddie considers conventions as her safe space. Attending them is something she looks forward to doing every weekend because they are the place where she can be herself and doesn’t have to hide.

“I can be passionate about Pokémon. I have noticed over the last year that vending has made me much more confident when it comes to creating art or discussing Pokémon in general. Having those conversations really makes my day, and attending conventions has further fueled my passion for my art and Pokémon overall,” she explicated.

“I get excited to draw something Pokémon-related, post it online, and then bring it to a convention a week later. Conventions have really made me appreciate Pokémon more as I draw, for example, Trubbish. I was not a fan of Trubbish, but as I drew it, it became something more special to me. And then other people liked it too. Maybe it was because it was in my own style? But just little things like that, I really enjoy sharing my art with the Pokémon community.”

Trubbish is winning our hearts, too! ❤

The most challenging aspect of what Maddie does is having the time to draw and feeling motivated to do so. She receives a lot of requests, but she doesn’t want to force herself. She’s just trying to do what she loves and what makes her happy.

Sweet Dreams From Cresselia

Maddie chose Mantine and Vaporeon as her favorite Pokémon. “I’m very much a water-type trainer,” she explained. “Vaporeon has always been my go-to Eeveelution. It really captures my love for the ocean. And for Mantine, manta rays are one of my favorite animals and one of the main parts of my business logo.”
