For this edition of FanArt Friday, Pokémon Blog is honored to feature the art of Miki Buke. This Chilean artist was also a part of the incredible project of Ilustradoras Unidas titled Pokédex Ilustrada.
For Miki, Art is a medium in which you must learn to be patient, handle frustration, and always look forward to improving your illustrations to become the kind of person or artist you want to be.
“Art, depending on the person, can be just a hobby or, as it would be in my case, an emerging profession. To make a living from what you love is a lifestyle that can be expressed through drawings,” she explained.
“I’ve followed Pokémon since I was little. I have very happy memories with my brothers watching the anime or playing the Pokémon video games on the computer (in a not-so-legal way), so I have a special affection for the first, second, and third generations,” Miki shared. “As I grew up, I got a little detached from the series and video games, but I’ve always deeply appreciated the saga. Lately, Pokémon inspires me a lot in my illustrations; making me imagine more adorable interactions between them makes me happy.”
Making artwork about Pokémon is something that makes our featured artist extremely happy because “constantly when I look at some images of the series or see illustrations related to Pokémon, I can create exactly the image I have in my head, although there is still a lot to learn.”
Miki revealed to the Pokémon Blog Team that she would love to create more Pokémon-related drawings in the future with her own style and take them to the next level, such as redoing the illustrations of the card games.
Miki’s favorite Pokémon is and always will be Butterfree because she’ll never forget the scene when Ash had to set it free. She said it was too sad for her.
She also holds Ponyta, Togepi, and Lapras dear to her heart.
