Empoleon is appearing in black crystal Tera Raid Battles! You can try catching Empoleon from Friday, February 2, 2024, at 00:00 UTC to Sunday, February 4, 2024, at 23:59 UTC, then again from Friday, February 9, 2024, at 00:00 UTC to Sunday, February 11, 2024, at 23:59 UTC.
Empoleon cannot normally be encountered in Paldea, and the Empoleon appearing during this event has Ice as its Tera Type. Be prepared—this Pokémon is a formidable foe, and it’s got the Mightiest Mark to prove it! Work together with your friends to topple this powerful Tera Pokémon!
During the latter half of this event—from Friday, February 9, 2024, at 00:00 UTC to Sunday, February 11, 2024, at 23:59 UTC—Blissey will be appearing more frequently in 5-star Tera Raid Battles. These Blissey will have various Tera Types, so prepare wisely before challenging them! Defeating Blissey will yield some delightful rewards, such as various Tera Shards and bonus Exp. Candies.
This special Empoleon can be caught only once per save data. If you caught this Empoleon previously during a Tera Raid Battle event, you cannot catch it again. You can still participate in Tera Raid Battles against this Empoleon to obtain other rewards if you’ve already caught it.
This Empoleon may be featured in future events or become obtainable through other methods.

What Is a Tera Raid Battle?
In a Tera Raid Battle, you’ll work together with three other Trainers to defeat a powerful Tera Pokémon before time runs out. The kinds of Pokémon encountered during Tera Raid Battle events will vary. Pokémon encountered in Tera Raid Battles may have a rare Tera Type.

Information about Tera Raid Battle Events
• To participate in Tera Raid Battle events, please download the latest Poké Portal News by selecting Poké Portal from the X menu, then Mystery Gift, then Check Poké Portal News. You do not need a paid Nintendo Switch Online membership to receive the latest Poké Portal News.
• After completing certain postgame events, you’ll be able to find black Tera Raid crystals. However, players who haven’t completed these events may still participate in these Tera Raid Battles by joining other Trainers in multiplayer.
• A paid Nintendo Switch Online membership (sold separately) is required to participate in Tera Raid Battles with other Trainers online. Terms apply. Learn more at https://www.nintendo.com/switch-online.
• Tera Raid Battle events will occur only in the Paldea region.
Empoleon with the Mightiest Mark Is Coming to 7-Star Tera Raid Battles
As Ice–Tera Type Empoleon appears at black Tera Raid crystals, you’ll also find generous Blissey in 5‑star Tera Raid Battles.
Empoleon with the Mightiest Mark is coming to Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet black crystal Tera Raid Battles! You won’t have much opportunity to chill out when you challenge this Pokémon from Thursday, February 1, 2024, at 4:00 p.m. PST to Sunday, February 4, 2024, at 3:59 p.m. PST, then again from Thursday, February 8, 2024, at 4:00 p.m. PST to Sunday, February 11, 2024, at 3:59 p.m. PST. Empoleon cannot normally be encountered in Paldea, and the Empoleon appearing during this event has Ice as its Tera Type. Be prepared—this Pokémon is a formidable foe, and it’s got the Mightiest Mark to prove it!
During this event, be on the lookout for generous Blissey as they appear more frequently in 5-star Tera Raid Battles. These Blissey will have various Tera Types, so prepare wisely before challenging them. Defeating these Blissey will yield some delightful rewards such as various Tera Shards and bonus Exp. Candies.
For the opportunity to encounter these Pokémon in Tera Raid Battles, you’ll need to have downloaded the latest Poké Portal News. You can do this by selecting Poké Portal from the X menu, then Mystery Gift, then Check Poké Portal News. After that, whenever you see a sparkling pillar of light shining from a Tera Raid crystal, you can walk up to the crystal and interact with it to start a Tera Raid Battle with a Tera Pokémon.
To challenge Ice–Tera Type Empoleon with the Mightiest Mark, Trainers will need to either complete the postgame events that follow the main story or join a 7-star Tera Raid Battle hosted by a Trainer who has completed those events. This special Empoleon can be caught only once per save data. If you caught this Empoleon previously during a Tera Raid Battle event, you cannot catch it again. You can still participate in Tera Raid Battles against this Empoleon if you’ve already caught it to obtain other rewards—including significant amounts of Exp. Candy for leveling up your Pokémon, treasures that can be sold at Pokémon Centers, items for improving your Pokémon’s stats, and Ice Tera Shards for changing your Pokémon’s Tera Type.
