FanArt Friday: The Magnificence of Ghost-Type Pokémon & The Relatability of Mimikyu

For this edition of FanArt Friday, Pokémon Blog is honored to feature the incredible artwork of Conejo Galáctico. This gifted artist participated in the project “Pokémon Fan: Dibuja Tu Equipo Soñado (Pokémon Fan: Draw Your Dream Team),” organized by Ilustradoras Unidas to celebrate the First Anniversary of FanArt Friday.

Art is a significant part of her life. She considers it therapeutic, a way of expression, and an outlet to channel her feelings.

What a beautiful depiction of Mega Banette!💜

“I remember my mom telling me that I used to grab my pencils since I was very young. And it has been that way until today,” she shared. “Creating art and observing the work of others has tugged my heartstrings and opened up possibilities for me. I enjoy experimenting and delving into different techniques, learning from many artists through trial and error.”

Eeveelutions are so precious!🌈

CG was in first grade when Pokémon made its appearance in her life.

My Computing teacher installed Pokémon Blue (on the devices we used in class), and I was hooked. I adored playing, and the creatures with diverse and unique designs. The Pokémon Anime series also taught important lessons about friendship and empathy. I’ve played many Pokémon games, and each generation brings something new.” she told Pokémon Blog.

The cutest Sprigatito ever!🥹

Our featured artist explained that sometimes she gets overwhelmed doing illustrations of the same theme in a row, and Pokémon is a great respite from that.

“Pokémon de-stresses me. And if I’m honest, I love being able to capture my own interpretations with different materials. I also got into the world of illustration thanks to Pokémon. It has helped me to meet one of my friends, who has helped me grow as an illustrator.”

“Some things have to be believed to be seen”🫖

CG’s favorite Pokémon is none other than Mimikyu.

“In general, Ghost-type Pokémon are my favorite designs in the franchise. When I was a child, I loved Pikachu. So when Mimikyu came out, it stole my heart. I find it too cute that he disguised himself as the Pokémon mascot to be loved, even though as a ghost, he can be scary. That makes me relate: wanting acceptance despite who I am,” she concluded.

As CG said, Mimikyu is a very relatable Pokémon!🖤
