Notes and Terms of Use

Only one user with one set of save data from either Pokémon Scarlet or Pokémon Violet may participate per Nintendo Switch™ system. If your Nintendo Account is registered to users on multiple Nintendo Switch systems—even if you play different versions of the game on the different systems—you may participate with only one system per Nintendo Account.

Only one user may participate per Nintendo Account. If you are playing both Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet on one Nintendo Account, you may enter using only one of those games. Championship Points will be granted to the top finishing players of the competition only once per Nintendo Account. Participating using both Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet will be considered an act that interferes with the competition. If it is discovered that a player has participated using more than one version of the game, that player can be penalized at any time, including removal from the Grand Challenge standings.

Any Nintendo Switch Online membership (sold separately) and Nintendo Account required for online features. Membership auto-renews after initial term at the then-current price unless canceled. Not available in all countries. Internet access required for online features. Terms apply. Learn more at nintendo.com/switch-online.

Battle data and results will be provided to Nintendo Co., Ltd., and The Pokémon Company (and its subsidiaries).

Players engaging in or exhibiting the following may receive penalties and be restricted from participating in future online events.
• Use of unauthorized methods to alter game save data, use of Pokémon that have data altered via altering code, or Pokémon created through the use of altering code
• Significantly large number of disconnects during battle, from when your opponent has been decided to when the match results have been fully sent to the server (please ensure a stable connection environment when connecting to the internet)
• Troubling behavior that could affect other participants or make others feel unpleasant
• Actions that would obstruct battles and operations, such as hacking
• Registering with incorrect information or impersonating another player
• Using multiple Nintendo Accounts to participate in the same competition
• Intentionally manipulating wins and losses by using multiple devices or sets of save data (or collaborating with others to do so)
• Other actions that operation hosts determine to be inappropriate

Sign Up for the 2025 Grand Challenge I Online Competition

Take on other Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet players and earn rewards, including Championship Points.

The time has come to earn rewards and test your skills against Trainers from Championship Point–earning regions in the Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet games. We recently announced that in addition to Global Challenge events happening this season, we are also introducing Grand Challenge events. These events function similarly to Global Challenge events but are limited to players in Championship Point–earning regions.

You can sign up for the 2025 Grand Challenge I Online Competition from September 11, 2024, at 5:00 p.m. PDT to September 19, 2024, at 4:59 p.m. PDT. The competition will begin on September 19, 2024, at 5:00 p.m. PDT and run until September 22, 2024, at 4:59 p.m. PDT, so don’t wait!

This competition is comprised of Double Battles using Pokémon that appear in Pokémon Scarlet or Pokémon Violet, including those that appear in The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC. In a new twist, Legendary Pokémon and Paradox Pokémon may not be used in the current Regulation Set H ruleset. For the full list of eligible Pokémon, ranking announcements, regulations, and other details, please refer to the in-game Poké Portal News.

After the event ends and results are announced, qualifying players who finish three or more matches with a win or loss during the event period will be eligible for rewards. To view your rankings, follow these steps:

  1. After the competition has ended, launch your Pokémon Scarlet or Pokémon Violet game.
  2. Open the X menu.
  3. Select Poké Portal.
  4. Select Battle Stadium.
  5. Select Online Competitions.
  6. Select Previous results.

Keep in mind that to earn Championship Points, you need to have already linked your Nintendo Account to your Pokémon Trainer Club account before you registered for this Online Competition, and you’ll need to keep them linked until after rewards have been awarded. If you unlink your accounts in the future, you’ll retain any Championship Points you’ve earned. (If you simply wish to register for and compete in competitions without being eligible for Championship Points, you don’t need to link your accounts.)
