The NES version of Tetris and Tetris DX for Game Boy Color are both available now for Nintendo Switch Online members

Posted on December 11, 2024December 15, 2024 by Blogger

Nintendo has revealed more content for Nintendo Switch Online. Read on below to learn more:

Two classic Tetris games are dropping onto the NES and Game Boy libraries!

Looking to create (or recreate) some classic gaming moments? Nintendo Switch Online members can access a collection of NES™, Super NES™, and Game Boy™ games anytime, anywhere.

You may want to start thinking about what your favorite Tetriminos piece is, because this latest update is stacking up to have a few twists and turns!

Nintendo Entertainment System™ – Nintendo Switch Online

Tetris®

Enjoy this version of the puzzle game released in North America in 1989. Stack the seven types of Tetrimino blocks that fall from the top of the Matrix into horizontal lines to gain points and clear lines from the screen. Though the rules are simple, you’ll need speed and strategy to achieve a high score! Play in two modes: A-TYPE, where it’s game over when the Tetriminos reach the top of the screen, or B-TYPE, where you’ll aim for the highest score within 25 lines.

Game Boy™ – Nintendo Switch Online

Tetris® DX

In this title released for the Game Boy Color system in 1998, you can play all kinds of different modes. In the standard MARATHON mode, you’ll only get a game over when the Tetriminos reach the top of the Matrix. But in ULTRA mode, you’ll only have three minutes to get the highest score you can. Take on 40LINES mode to see how quickly you can get rid of 40 lines. Finally, in VS. COM mode, you can play against the computer in three possible difficulty levels. You can even play against your own levels or your friends’ levels, which are based on prior game results. Polish your skills against the computer, then surprise your friends in 2PLAYER mode!

Any Nintendo Switch Online membership (sold separately) and Nintendo Account required for online play. Membership auto-renews after initial term at the then-current price unless canceled. Not available in all countries. Internet access required for online features. Terms apply. nintendo.com/switch-online

NES & Game Boy – December 2024 Game Update – Nintendo Switch Online

In celebration of the 40th anniversary of Tetris®, legendary game designer and programmer Alexey Pajitnov is here to share a very special message about his beloved puzzle game! The Nintendo Entertainment System version of Tetris®, originally released in North America in 1989, plus Tetris® DX, originally released for the Game Boy Color system in 1998, are both available now for #NintendoSwitchOnline members!
